FORGEATHLETIC

No crowded machine floor. No wandering programming. Just a capped roster of athletes, coached properly, in a room built for work — since 2019.

Our Philosophy

We cap the roster so you never hit a ceiling.

Forge Athletic opened in De Waterkant in 2019 with one rule that hasn't moved since: membership is capped, and it's invite-only. Not for exclusivity's sake — because a coach can only actually coach a handful of athletes at once.

There's no machine floor to queue for, no anonymous 200-person roster, no programming written for the average person in the room. Every athlete who trains here is on a plan built around their own numbers, their own history, and their own goals — reviewed and adjusted by the same coach, session after session.

When we reach 90 members, applications close until a spot opens. It's the only way we know to keep the standard where we want it.

Capped Numbers

90 members, full stop. When we're full, we run a waitlist instead of squeezing in more.

Personalised Programming

Your training block is written for you — reviewed and adjusted by your coach, not an app.

Recovery Suite

In-house sauna and ice bath, included in Founders and Standard membership.

Community Events

Monthly team lifts, the annual Forge Games, and off-site conditioning sessions on the mountain.

The Work

Five ways to get stronger.

Every programme is coached live, capped in numbers, and built around a periodised plan — not a random workout of the day.

01 Athlete performing a back squat under a barbell in the strength rig
Barbell · 60 Min · Small Group

Strength & Conditioning

Foundational barbell strength built on the squat, hinge, press and pull. Periodised across training blocks so every session moves you toward a number, not just a sweat.

02 Athlete performing a single-arm kettlebell lunge
Strength + Engine · 60 Min

Hybrid Athlete

For athletes who need to be strong and breathe under fatigue — loaded strength work blended with engine-building conditioning, built around your sport or event.

03 Small group class performing front squats together
Metcon · 45 Min · Max 8

Small Group HIIT

High-intensity, coach-programmed conditioning capped at eight athletes a session — so every rep is watched and every scale is set correctly for you.

04 Coach spotting an athlete during a barbell bench press
Private · Fully Custom

1-on-1 Personal Training

Fully individualised programming and undivided coaching attention — for specific goals, a return from injury, or athletes who just want it done right.

05 Athlete performing a mobility stretch on the gym floor
Movement · 45 Min + Recovery Suite

Mobility & Recovery

Structured mobility work, movement screening, and recovery suite access — sauna and ice bath — to keep you training, not sidelined.

The coaching staff.

Four coaches, one roster. Every athlete answers to the same coach every session — no rotating cast.

Coach Jared Botha training in the Forge Athletic gym Head Coach & Founder

Jared Botha

Former Western Province & Stormers strength & conditioning coach. Jared founded Forge in 2019 to bring provincial-level programming to everyday athletes. 15+ years coaching high-performance rugby and Olympic lifting.

Coach Lindiwe Dlamini training in the Forge Athletic gym Strength & Olympic Lifting

Lindiwe Dlamini

Competitive Olympic lifter turned coach. Lindiwe leads Forge's barbell strength programming and technical lifting clinics — obsessed with getting the bar path right before the weight goes up.

Coach Ryan Fischer training in the Forge Athletic gym Hybrid & Conditioning

Ryan Fischer

Ex-provincial triathlete and Level 2 conditioning coach. Ryan builds the engine work behind the Hybrid Athlete and HIIT programming — brutal, but never pointless.

Coach Amber van Zyl at the Forge Athletic gym Mobility & Recovery
